Sullivan allowed US weapons attacks on the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near the border of the Sumy region

The United States considers it permissible for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to use American weapons against the Russian military located on the territory of Russia on the border with the Sumy region of Ukraine. This was stated by Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jake Sullivan.

According to the US presidential aide, the decision to use American weapons on Russian territory “extends to all territories where Russian troops cross the border to try to occupy additional Ukrainian territory.”

“This applies to all places where Russian forces cross the border from the Russian side to the Ukrainian side,” Jake Sullivan said in an interview with PBS.

When asked by a journalist whether Washington’s permission applies to the regions of the Russian Federation bordering the Sumy region, he replied that the United States had “seen trial visits” by the Russian military to the territory of the region.

“This (decision – ed.) is applicable there,” the official added.

Jake Sullivan also made the statement that the United States “allows Ukrainian troops to attack” with artillery and other means Russian forces that are retreating to the territory of the Russian Federation. According to him, Ukraine can “use air defense systems, including those supplied by the United States, to disable Russian aircraft in the sky, even if they are in the airspace of the Russian Federation.”

Earlier, Markus Faber, a member of the Bundestag and an expert of the Free Democratic Party of Germany on defense issues, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the right to strike with Western weapons at “military facilities” throughout Russia.
