Zakharova: Moscow considers conference on Ukraine in Switzerland a failure

Russian Foreign Minister Maria Zakharova has said that Moscow considers the Ukrainian summit in Switzerland a failure.

She noted that attempts to present the summit as an event of “almost universal scale” turned out to be a fiasco, and almost half of the 160 invited countries refused to “engage in political tourism”.

The bet on maximising the involvement of the Global South states did not work, Zakharova added.

She stressed that Kiev and the West were not initially going to search for ways to peacefully resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian presidential aide for international affairs Yuriy Ushakov said that the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland did not make any contribution to the progress towards a peaceful settlement.
