European leaders plan to re-elect Ursula von der Leyen for a second term as head of the European Commission, the Financial Times writes.
According to the newspaper, the leaders of the EU states will approve von der Leyen in the evening on Monday, 17 June.
“No one is discussing a different outcome. The lot has been cast for her,” a diplomat from an EU state told the publication.
In addition, representatives of European countries will discuss candidates for the post of the head of the European Council and the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy.
Earlier, acting Russian ambassador to the EU Kirill Logvinov said that von der Leyen’s victory in the European Parliament election would mean a continuation of the course towards the militarisation of the EU.
