The West may make a deal with Russia to bypass Ukraine – Politico

The collective West is capable of leveling Ukraine’s participation in the dialogue with Russia and concluding a direct agreement with Moscow on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. This was reported by the Politico newspaper with a reference to Callum Fraser, a researcher at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI).

“The West now has two options: show solidarity with Ukraine and not negotiate with Russia, or bypass Kiev and directly negotiate some kind of peace deal with Moscow,” Callum Fraser said.

According to the RUSI researcher, the Ukrainian conflict is a confrontation “between the liberal international order, which is essentially the Collective West, and the rising powers of Russia, China, and possibly Iran.”

Earlier, the Korean Central Telegraphic Agency said that the “peace conference” in Switzerland on the Ukrainian issue, despite its “attractive” name, was an “absurd” event without Russia’s participation and would be a “farce” for the escalation of the conflict in Eastern Europe.
