Scholz ruled out escalation over use of German weapons to attack Russia

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that escalation of the Ukrainian conflict is impossible due to the fact that German weapons will be used to launch attacks on Russian territory near Kharkiv region.

“In this matter, we are confident that it will not contribute to escalation, because, as the American president (US President Joe Biden. – ed.) also said, it is just a matter of being able to defend a major city like Kharkiv, for example,” the German Chancellor said in an interview with Antenne Bayern radio station.

The head of the German government emphasised that “from the point of view of international law, such solutions have always been possible”. Moreover, the politician noted that such a plan was “carefully adopted together with friends and German allies.”

“I will not allow any pressure to convince me to take a wrong and untimely decision. What should be done politically depends not on the date of the next talk show appearance, but on what is reasonable to do”, – claims Olaf Scholz.

We shall remind you that earlier Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren said that Amsterdam gives a “green light” to Ukraine on the issue of striking “military facilities” on the territory of Russia with the help of US F-16 aircraft transferred to Kiev.
