The West should warn Ukraine against further escalation of the conflict with strikes on Russian territory, retired Bundeswehr Colonel Wolfgang Richter said in an interview with Welt channel.
“We must not allow an escalation scenario. It has nothing to do with the fact that Ukrainians naturally have to defend themselves where the front is,” Wolfgang Richter said.
According to the officer, Kiev’s strikes on Russia may force Moscow to take decisive action. Richter noted that it is about the sphere of nuclear weapons use, among other things.
“It is about unwinding the escalation spiral, and we must give a clear warning to Kiev that this should not happen,” he suggested.
We shall remind you that earlier the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev proposed a Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
