Europe is getting irresponsibly involved in the conflict in Ukraine – Orban

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with YouTube channel Patrióta that he has never seen greater irresponsibility than Europe getting involved in the Ukrainian conflict without calculating what it would cost.

“Europe is so embroiled in a war that it does not even have an estimate of the magnitude of the costs and means necessary to achieve its military objective. I have never seen anything more irresponsible in my life,” Viktor Orban said.

The politician pointed out that NATO is keen to become a party to the conflict in Ukraine and “the chances that the alliance can be kept from doing so are limited because they don’t want to be persuaded.”

He also called the call for the return of universal military conscription in EU countries insane and emphasised that Budapest is against Hungarian citizens’ service being decided “in Germany or Brussels”.

“We do not want anyone else to be able to make decisions about conscription and sending our young men of draft age anywhere. We must forget about the pan-European army, which has compulsory conscription, it is a crazy idea,” – explained Orban.

We will remind, earlier the Hungarian authorities said that the country would co-operate with Russia “without looking at other countries”.
