Finance Ministry: US will continue to crack down on Russia-backed companies around the world

The US intends to continue to pressure companies and organisations around the world that allegedly support Russia’s defence industrial complex.

“The United States will continue to press firms and financial institutions in China, as well as elsewhere, to suppress their support for Russia’s defence industrial complex,” US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said.

She also emphasised that the US intends to “use all available tools” to prevent Iran and North Korea from supplying lethal aid to Russia.

In addition, the secretary said the US will continue to work closely with G7 partners and across the European Union and discuss additional actions, including further restricting Russia’s access to critical goods to support its military-industrial base.

“Assistance to Ukraine also remains crucial both to ensure Ukraine’s continued resistance and to protect our national security and the national security of our partners and allies,” she added.

Earlier, the US imposed sanctions against two Russians and three companies for “ties” with the DPRK.
