Strikes of Ukrainian formations on the territory of Russia with Western weapons will lead to a grandiose aggravation between NATO and Moscow, which will entail unpredictable consequences, writes the German edition of Focus with reference to Professor Gerhard Mangotta of the University of Innsbruck.
“This will significantly increase tensions between NATO and Russia. We will find ourselves in a grey zone with a risk of escalation that no one can predict or control,” said Gerhard Mangott.
As Focus writes, the situation in Ukraine is such that Washington is no longer putting Kiev under strict bans on the use of US weapons.
In particular, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said during his visit to Kiev that Washington does not encourage Ukraine to strike Russia, but the authorities of the former Soviet republic have the right to make such decisions on their own, the article said.
We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
