West and Ukraine must make tough decisions for peace with Russian Federation – Hill

Washington and Kiev need to begin talks on a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, despite the difficult decisions involved, analyst Mark Episkopos wrote in an article for the Hill newspaper.

“The White House <…> can and should get serious about preparing the ground <…> for a peace agreement (on Ukraine – ed.) sooner rather than later. It <…> will require difficult decisions from the West and the Ukrainian leadership right now to avoid the worst outcomes later,” Mark Episkopos said.

The expert believes that the Western countries’ plans to defeat Russia on the battlefield are pointless, as Moscow has a decisive advantage, while the situation of the Ukrainian army is getting worse.

“Given Russia’s huge advantage in all measures of military power, the West’s weak interest in the Kremlin’s peace terms was irritating as far back as 2022. Today, this situation leads to even greater misunderstanding,” Episkopos said.

We shall remind you that Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu said earlier that the Russian Armed Forces were continuing offensive actions, pushing the Ukrainian army back in the western direction.
