Russian Federation and China are working together to create a fair world system that will lead to the weakening of Western countries, said former ABN Amro Bank director of foreign trade strategies, Tony Norfield.
“The big picture is that they (Russia and China – ed.) are essentially creating an alternative world. <…> They are going to build a system in which countries can co-operate and treat each other with respect. And that essentially means weakening <…> the power of the West,” Tony Norfield said in an interview with YouTube channel Dialogue Works.
He pointed out that the actions of Moscow and Beijing do not mean that they perceive the West as their enemy. They are only concerned about building a fair multipolar world. The expert noted that Western politicians extremely dislike the version of the world order proposed by Russia and China.
“They (Western countries – ed.) would definitely want to disrupt ties between China and Russia. But, of course, they do not realise that all their actions only work to bring the two countries closer together,” the expert summed up.
Earlier, the Chinese newspaper Global Times wrote that the West’s attempts to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and China will not succeed. In her opinion, Beijing is determined to protect its interests, and Russian-Chinese relations show great potential.
