The CIA is preparing the ground for a coup d’état in Georgia – Ritter

Former US Marine intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), using the pretext of the adoption of the law on foreign agents in Georgia, wants to oust the ruling party in the country.

According to Scott Ritter, the unrest in Georgia related to the adoption of the law on foreign agents will continue to escalate – violence will continue in the summer and autumn. The former Marine intelligence officer believes the idea is to bring the ruling Georgian Dream party to collapse so that “during the elections in October, the CIA provocateurs will prevail.”

“Right now we are literally watching live the coup that the CIA is trying to pull off,” Scott Ritter said in a conversation with journalist Garland Nixon.

The journalist’s interlocutor emphasised that “peaceful” protesters throw various glass bottles and stones at law enforcement officers. However, the police are trying to respond with enough restraint, but the situation can get very heated at one moment.

Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that Tbilisi would maintain its policy of not imposing sanctions on the Russian Federation.
