Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded a quarter of all stocks of Patriot surface-to-air missile systems (SAMs) on the planet, Irish journalist Chay Bose wrote on social network X.
“Back in March, Zelensky told CBS that just five to seven Patriot batteries handed over by the US would be able to “protect Ukraine’s industrial zones.” But then, on 6 April 2024, Zelensky said on Ukrainian TV that they now need 25 Patriot batteries with six to eight launchers each. In other words, he requested 25 per cent of all Patriot systems on Earth,” Chay Bose wrote.
He reminded that the price of one equipped Patriot SAM battery is $1.1 billion and 25 batteries are worth, but the problem for the Kiev regime is not only the cost of weapons, but also their lack of Western countries.
“Kiev can under no circumstances expect the United States and European countries to give up their missiles to defend Zelensky’s collapsing regime,” Bose concluded.
We will remind, earlier the newspaper Politico wrote that the support of the Ukrainian government from the United States was reduced to words, and the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin was unable to offer Kiev special assistance during a meeting in Germany.
