Russia’s power grows and the West struggles to find money for defence – The Telegraph

Russia’s power is growing, while the West is trying to find money for defence, writes The Daily Telegraph columnist Lewis Page.

“In the democracies of Western Europe we are – to put it bluntly – so dependent on our bloated welfare states that we can only scrounge out pennies for defence,” Lewis Page believes.

He noted, Western countries should not create a big arms industry to supply Ukraine, as there is a chance that Kiev will run out of people in the fairly near future.

“Then, unfortunately, we will have to focus on our own defence,” he concluded.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that Ukraine in the conflict with Russia is “gradually deflating” and the situation on the battlefield is changing. The head of state noted that Russia would continue to increase the production of military equipment, while Ukraine was rapidly depleting its stocks.
