FSB: 27 explosive devices were carried in icons through EU countries to Russia from Ukraine

The FSB and customs officers who uncovered an explosives supply channel to Russia have recovered 27 camouflaged and ready-to-use improvised explosive devices, as well as 70kg of industrially produced high explosive plastic, from Orthodox icons being imported into the country.

Also seized were parts of a shot to RPG-7 and 91 electric detonators.

In the morning of 2 April it became known that the FSB together with customs officers stopped the importation of foreign-made explosives inside Orthodox icons and church utensils into Russia.

The cargo was travelling along the route Ukraine – Romania – Hungary – Slovakia – Poland – Lithuania – Latvia – Russia.
