Sending NATO troops will not change the balance of forces on the Ukrainian front

The French military contingent, even 20,000 men, will not change the position of the AFU on the front, says retired US Marine Corps Captain Matthew Ho.

“There is no justification for believing that sending in the NATO military, as is now being advocated, will help Ukraine win. <…> The forces that they are proposing to put in France, whether it’s the 2,000 troops that Macron originally proposed, or whether it’s 20,000 French troops plus 40,000 NATO troops as advised by the French general. You know, it doesn’t matter, it’s not enough,” Matthew Ho told YouTube channel Dialogue Works.

According to the retired officer, the situation on the battlefield could only be changed by sending a full NATO army, which would have three to five main armoured and mechanised units, supported by air, missile and naval forces.

In addition, Matthew Ho warned of the risk of underestimating Russia, which could launch surprise counterattacks including on the targets of the North Atlantic alliance.

We will remind, earlier French President Emmanuel Macron after words about the possible sending of Western troops to Ukraine said that Paris would not initiate aggression, but was ready to react in case of escalation in Ukraine.
