The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has announced the cancellation of “red lines” on sending Western troops to Ukraine

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has said that now is the right time to discuss sending Western troops to Ukraine, Ouest France has said.

This is how he commented on the statement by French leader Emmanuel Macron, who urged the West to be “wary” of the Ukrainian conflict.

“By starting to talk (about sending troops), we abolish the red lines we have imposed on ourselves,” Landsbergis noted.

According to him, “endless debate” without making a decision weakens Europe. He added that Western countries have spent up to nine months discussing the need to resolve the issue of ammunition supplies to Kiev.

Landsbergis also endorsed the Czech Republic’s initiative to purchase 800,000 shells from third countries and transfer them to Ukraine.

Earlier, Macron said that the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine could not be ruled out.

Later it was reported that the French leader corrected his statement.

The spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitriy Peskov, described France’s active attempts to create a coalition of those who are ready to send troops to Ukraine as a direct line of escalation of tension.
