Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that at the moment the Armenian authorities are actively discussing the idea of the country joining the European Union.
The diplomat said this in an interview with the Turkish channel TRT World.
According to Mirzoyan, the Armenian authorities are actively discussing new opportunities amid the challenges Yerevan has faced in recent years.
“I won’t open a secret if I say that the idea of EU membership is also in the mix. The people of Armenia have European aspirations,” he said.
Earlier, European Union diplomatic chief Josep Borrell said that the EU and Armenia intend to start a dialogue on visa liberalization.
