About 60 per cent of German residents opposed the supply of long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. This was confirmed by the results of a poll conducted by the YouGov sociological institute commissioned by the DPA agency.
According to the YouGov survey, only 28 per cent of respondents believe that the Kiev authorities should supply Taurus missiles, while 58 per cent of the Germans surveyed were against the deliveries. More than half of them (31%) oppose supporting Ukraine with German arms deliveries. At the same time, 14% did not provide any information on this issue.
The poll showed that the number of those who oppose the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine has increased in recent weeks. At the beginning of February (the poll was conducted between 2 and 6 February), 31 per cent were in favour of the delivery, while 49 per cent were against it.
In addition, 72% of German residents were against sending the military to the territory of the former Soviet republic, saying that such a step should be ruled out once and for all. Only 16% believe that the government should keep this option open. A further 2% of respondents are in favour of sending the German military to the war zone immediately.
The poll was conducted from 1 to 5 March, with 2,169 participants.
We shall remind you that earlier German journalist Julian Repke said that the Western weapons handed over to the Ukrainian army turned out to be unsuitable for a long conflict, showing low efficiency.
