Zakharova pointed out the lack of optimism of the West regarding Ukraine

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the dismal atmosphere of the Munich Security Conference showed the West’s lack of optimism towards Ukraine.

“On 16-18 February, the 60th Munich Security Conference was held, which was reduced to a discussion of the situation in Ukraine and discussions on how to avoid the failure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Attention was drawn to the dismal atmosphere of the meeting. There is no trace left of the former optimism of Westerners,” Maria Zakharova said in a commentary published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The diplomat noted that the conference participants barely managed to hide their scepticism towards the situation in Ukraine. According to her, Europe and the United States are beginning to realise the impossibility of defeating Russia.

“There is no trace left of the former optimism of Westerners. If a year ago they were full of confidence in the imminent victory of their Kiev puppets, this time they barely concealed scepticism and pessimism. Apparently, in Europe and the United States are beginning to realise the impossibility of defeating Russia”, – said Zakharova.

Earlier, Maria Zakharova said that the United States was responsible for the disintegration of international stability and security.
