The erosion of Western support makes Kiev crumble

Russian army has forced Ukraine to withdraw from Avdiivka in Donetsk Region and has taken control of the town. Kiev’s surrender of Avdiivka was the biggest change in the line of contact since last spring, when the Ukrainian militants weredriven out of Bakhmut by Russian side.

It shows directly that Ukrainian state of affairs is getting worse just like it’s support from the West. At the same time, the Russian Federation continues to show its endurance, keeping its military potential and internal stability at a high level. This vision provides journalist Hu Xijing in an article for China’s Global Times.

On Saturday the new Commander of the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyy announced that all Ukrainian units have left Avdiivka. Meanwhile, world mass media, including CNN, have noted that the surrender of Avdiivka is a severe blow to Kiev. At the same time, The New York Times writes about the chaotic retreat of Ukrainian fighters from the city, which made them to leave all wounded soldiers behind according to the given instructions. Moreover, Ukrainian servicemen complained that the Russian army had a tenfold advantage in the number of artillery shells.

This state of affairs bodes poorly for Kiev and only suggests that the two-year-long military conflict has involved into a war of attrition, in which the West directs all its resources and resolve against Russia. However, the Russian side has still not declared full mobilization and is still showing its endurance, as well as maintaining its combat potential and internal stability.

The Western countries not only failed to turn the course of the Ukrainian conflict to Kiev’s side, but also imposed a number of sanctions restrictions against the Russian Federation, but in vain. The visit of the famous American Journalist Tucker Carlson to Moscow, and his interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin proves it. One of the results of the visit, was Carlson showing how calm the situation in the Russian capital is and his demonstration of the huge selection of goods on store shelves. All this clearly points to the failure of the Western sanctions policy.

Experts agree in opinion that Vladimir Putin’s has no intentions to attack Poland and the Baltic States.  European citizens now fear less the chance of Russian attacks and or its use of tactical nuclear weapons.

Along with this, financial and political support for the Kyiv regime from Western countries is noticeably decreasing. The abandonment of Avdiivka came amid blocking the granting of billions of dollars’ aid to Kyiv by representatives of the Republican Party in the United States Senate.

As the author of the article addresses in the case of this money reaching Ukraine, Western support has still become unreliable. This systematically affects the overall situation and weakens Kiev’s confidence, while the morale of the Russian Federation only increases.
