EU may impose sanctions on Carlson for interview with Putin

The European Union may impose various restrictions on former Fox News host and American journalist Tucker Carlson for filming an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by Newsweek magazine with reference to current and former members of the European Parliament (EP).

“Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin could make the conservative expert a target in the eyes of European Union lawmakers,” the material says.

For example, the current member of the European Parliament and former Prime Minister of Belgium Guy Verhofstadt emphasised that the interview with the Russian President could negatively affect the relationship of the American journalist with Brussels. In addition, the Belgian politician called for a “travel ban” on Tucker Carlson and labelled him a “mouthpiece” of former United States President Donald Trump.

However, Newsweek emphasised that “any hypothetical sanctions against Carlson may be a long way off, even if the move gets enough support among European lawmakers and heads of state”.

We will remind, earlier the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov mentioned that the head of the Russian state Vladimir Putin gave an interview to former Fox News anchor and US journalist Tucker Carlson because of his point of view, which comes in strong contrast to the traditional Western and American media agenda.
