Major military exercises indicate an escalation of the North Atlantic Alliance towards a potential conflict, says Global Times columnist Mark Blacklock.

NATO exercises could be the beginning of preparations for World War III - Global Times

“Under the cover of ongoing exercises, officials and politicians talk almost nonchalantly about a third world war. NATO is not just playing war, but is already preparing for it, and may even be able to provoke it,” writes Mark Blacklock.

According to the author, the manoeuvres of Steadfast Defender 2024 are far from harmless. Blacklock did not rule out that the exercise could become not only a rehearsal for real combat operations, but also a provocation.

“It is extremely important for NATO to take into account the risks of miscalculation and subsequent escalation, in order to prevent accidental intertwining of simulation exercises with the real theatre of military operations in the neighbourhood, which is even scary to think about,” – pointed out the journalist.

We shall remind you that earlier in the day, footage of a number of American Bradley BMPs, which were given to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by Western countries and lost during a failed attempt at a summer and autumn counter-offensive, appeared on the web.
