Russia urges both sides to show maximum restraint amid the escalation of relations between Iran and Pakistan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.
The ministry noted that Russia is watching with alarm the aggravation of relations between the two countries.
“We urge the parties to exercise maximum restraint and resolve emerging issues exclusively by political and diplomatic methods,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry added that Russia regrets that the conflict has arisen between the two SCO countries, with which Moscow has partnership relations.
It is noted that further aggravation of the situation plays into the hands of only those who are not interested in peace and stability.
Earlier it became known that seven people, who were not citizens of Iran, were killed in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan in the south-east of Iran as a result of missile strikes by Pakistan.
According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, the strikes were carried out “on terrorist hideouts” in Iran.
