The Commander-in-Chief of the Swedish Armed Forces, Mikael Büden, said that the country’s citizens should be prepared for a possible war. His view was echoed by the country’s Minister of Civil Defence, Karl-Oskar Bulin.
According to the latter, there could indeed be war in Sweden. Speaking at the People and Defence national security conference, he noted that there had been talk of this before.
“For many years it has been said before me, but let me say it from the height of my position. Less veiled and with unvarnished clarity: there could be war in Sweden,” Bulin was quoted as saying in a statement on the Swedish government’s website.
Büden said on TV4 that the situation is very serious. And now, he said, it is a question of moving “from words and understanding to action”.
Earlier it was reported that Sweden lifted the embargo on the supply of defence goods to Turkey.
