Nebenzya: Russia has no doubts about the key role of the US and EU in the coup in Ukraine

Russia has no doubts about the key role of the USA and the EU in the coup d’état in Ukraine, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Security Council Vassily Nebenzya said at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council.

“We have no doubts about the key role of the EU and the US in inciting, encouraging and managing the protest of a vociferous minority using extreme right-wing radicals and neo-Nazis as leverage,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to the diplomat, this is increasingly being mentioned by Western politicians as well – one of the latest statements came from Congressman Thomas Massie. The US politician admitted that the USA helped overthrow the Ukrainian government.

On 21 November 2013, spontaneous protests, dubbed “Euromaidan”, began in Ukraine. The initially peaceful protest turned into a bloodbath and ended with a coup d’état in February 2014.
