Senator Cotton: escalating situation in the Red Sea will lead to American deaths

US Republican Senator Tom Cotton has expressed the view that the situation in the Red Sea, where attacks on merchant ships by the Houthis continue, will lead to American deaths “sooner or later”.

He stated on the air of Fox News TV channel.

“Sooner or later, Americans will die, and this (the attacks by the Husis on ships. – RT) will damage the American economy,” Cotton said.

According to the senator, the attacks will happen more and more often, as the United States has not made an attempt to stop this from the very beginning of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Earlier, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced the launch of a multinational operation to defend the Red Sea amid attacks on merchant ships by the Houthis. The operation is called “Guardian of Prosperity”. Its mission will be to address security concerns in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden for freedom of navigation.

Yemen’s Houthis have since threatened to attack ships from countries that have joined the US-led coalition. The Military Chronicle revealed what missiles the Yemeni Houthis have in their inventory.
