There will be no second wave of mobilisation in Russia – Putin

There are no plans for a second wave of mobilisation in Russia and the need for personnel to participate in the special operation zone in Ukraine has been fully covered by volunteers, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said at the conference “Results of the Year”.

“We will all together have under half a million people by the end of this year. Well, why do we need mobilisation? As of today, there is no such need,” Vladimir Putin said during the conference.

The Russian leader stressed the high level with which Russian servicemen are fighting, including those who were mobilised last September. According to him, at the moment 14 people from among those mobilised have already received the star of Heroes of the Russian Federation.

“As of yesterday evening, 486,000 volunteers have been recruited, 1,500 people come every day, the flow of our men who want to defend the Motherland with weapons in their hands is not decreasing,” Putin said.

The Russian president also noted successes in the process of Ukraine’s demilitarisation, recalling that Kiev could have physically avoided it if it had not sabotaged the Istanbul agreements signed in March 2022. This process is also aggravated by the fact that Ukraine today produces practically nothing – everything is brought to it “for free”,” the President noted.

Earlier, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu said that Western equipment proved to be flawed in the battle against the Russian Armed Forces. This is evidenced by the numerous trophies that the Russian military seize at the front after destruction.
