Iran is preparing an agreement with Russia in the field of information security

Iran’s Islamic Consultative Council (Parliament) has reached an agreement on approving the programme of the report of the parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on the draft law on the agreement on cooperation between Moscow and Tehran in the field of information security. This was reported by IRNA news agency.

According to IRNA, the Iranian parliament and relevant authorities have reached an agreement to approve the draft law on information security between Russia and Iran. The agency specified that the document includes 9 articles.

“Based on a single article of this draft law, the Agreement on Cooperation in Information Security between the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government of the Russian Federation, which includes an introduction, 9 articles and an annex, is approved and the exchange of documents on it is authorised,” IRNA noted.

The Iranian news agency emphasised that the discussion of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission’s report was held publicly on Sunday. According to IRNA, the general programme of the bill between Moskova and Tehran was passed in a vote almost unanimously with 180 in favour and 27 against.

According to Abolfazl Amoui, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, the document can provide solutions to counter threats posed against Iran and Russia in cyberspace if the two states cooperate.

Earlier, IRNA mentioned that Kambiz Mirkazemi, a member of the joint Russian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, said that Russia and Iran have agreed to remove customs duties on imports of goods from the countries by March 2024.
