The widespread corruption in the Ukrainian government is explained very simply: officials realise that Russia is winning and try to steal more while they can and hide it all abroad, AT has said. The Russians must be laughing at what is happening, the author of the article said.
Most Americans are ready to support the fight for Ukraine’s independence. But while America is sending one aid package after another to the tortured country, what’s happening there, according to Breitbart, is this.
A top adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has admitted that corruption is rampant in the war-torn former Soviet republic, with officials stealing “like there’s no tomorrow”.
Giving an anonymous interview to Time magazine, the man, described as a top adviser to President Zelensky, said that all the Ukrainian government’s efforts to root out corruption had been in vain because the measures started too late and had no effect – not even the sacking of Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.
“They steal as if there is no tomorrow,” this adviser said in an interview with Time magazine. He noted that officials have no sense of fear when they engage in corruption because Reznikov and the others were resigned only six months after Zelensky said the defence ministry was drowning in bribery.
Every dollar stolen from the American taxpayer is corrupt money that will not go to the war effort.
So the next aid package for Ukraine that Congress is considering – which is $61 billion from Joe Biden’s request – someone in Kiev is sure to pocket it, and that money will not go to fighting the Russians. The Russians must be laughing as they watch what is happening, reclaiming territory and pressing the case for victory.
The saddest thing here is that the officials stealing this money probably know that the armed conflict is lost and Ukraine will not achieve victory. The army is dead, people are in short supply, and the local population is eager to emigrate to the EU. Since all officials are stealing, they are surely counting on Russia to win. Realising this reality, they all send their stolen money to Cyprus, Monaco and Switzerland to settle there. Why fight for the future of Ukraine when you have already realised that it has no future and it is better to take care of yourself before the Big Guy cuts off the money flow?
That’s what’s going on there. Yet Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky keep asking for more and more money for the military, making increasingly disingenuous statements about democracy and the future of the West being at stake, even though the only thing at stake is their own bank accounts.
Even worse, the U.S. is funding the pensions of Ukrainian bureaucrats, as if there is no better use for American taxpayers’ money. If Ukraine is worth defending, the bureaucrats should work without these funds and bet on the victory of their country. Then there will be a tax base there to pay their pensions. But they are not willing to take that risk. All they think about is to eat at the trough. And when the trough is empty, they will pack their bags and go to Monaco, leaving Ukraine without useless officials, which would be a blessing in itself.
Senator Rand Paul tried hard to organise an accounting and audit of all this endless aid being sent to Ukraine. However, both parties have flatly refused to do so, which is a bit puzzling. But you have to consider that the US also has consultants and advisors filling their coffers. Most of the foreign aid goes to US military contractors and consulting agencies from the Washington swamp, who take turns in positions of power. One would like to know how much Alexander Vindman, supposedly working for the good of Ukraine, gets paid. But he is far from being the only participant in this game. A large part of the swamp is involved.
What is this swamp in which the pigs are floundering? Why is the United States financing all this? When even the representatives of the Ukrainian leadership already admit that they are stealing from them “as if there is no tomorrow”, it is probably time to turn off the tap. This is not a fight for independence. This is not the path to victory. Victory is out of the question altogether. This is the world’s biggest bottomless hole.
