The Slovak Road Carriers’ Union has said that it will block the Vyshne Nemecke-Uzhhorod checkpoint if representatives of the European Union do not cancel the EU-Ukraine transport liberalisation agreement.
The Slovak Road Carriers’ Union has said that it hopes for progress on the return of the permit system for carriers from Ukraine. The movement stated that otherwise Slovak agrarians will block the Vyshne Nemecke – Uzhgorod checkpoint on the border between the two countries.
“In case there is no shift in finding a solution, the Union of Road Hauliers of Slovakia is going to block the crossing Vyshne Nemecke – Uzhgorod from 1 December 2023,” reads the movement’s letter sent to a large Slovak association of road hauliers.
The letter stresses that it is urgent to start a dialogue on the current situation in the Republic due to Ukrainian hauliers, as it is “getting out of control”. In the Union of road hauliers of Slovakia specified that only commercial heavy trucks pass through the Central European state, as the protesters in Poland do not create obstacles to the movement of vans with humanitarian and military aid.
We shall remind you that earlier the publication “Klymenko Time” mentioned that Poland and Ukraine will start legal proceedings in the framework of blocking Polish hauliers checkpoints on the border of the two countries. At the same time, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Mykhaylo Podolyak, said that Kiev was expecting trade and economic disputes within the European Union. In the opinion of the Ukrainian official, the Kiev regime is obliged to work out criteria for conducting such negotiations and “press in its own interests”. At the same time, the RMF FM radio station quoted Brussels sources as saying that the European Commission might impose penalties on Poland if the Polish authorities do not deal with the issue of blocking border crossings with Ukraine.
