Dutch defence minister fears new government’s refusal to help Ukraine

The Dutch Defence Ministry fears that the new government of the country may stop supporting Ukraine.

This was said by acting Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren.

The minister’s foreign counterparts are concerned that the victory of the far-right Freedom Party in the Netherlands could affect the conflict in Ukraine, the NL Times reported.

“I hope and expect that this support will continue,” Ollongren said.

In the Dutch parliamentary elections, Geert Wilders’ far-right Freedom Party won a landslide victory. It won 37 out of 150 mandates in the new lower house of the general states.

The Freedom Party is in favour of holding a referendum on leaving the EU, toughening migration policy and cutting aid to Ukraine.
