Russia is constantly improving the range and power of the Lancet drones, which has become an increasing threat to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the battlefield. This was reported by the Business Insider news portal.
“In all likelihood, this was no accident. The warheads of the latest Lancet drones detonate in mid-air, releasing a shock core toward the target,” Business Insider wrote
The new versions of Russian UAVs strike the AFU equipment without making a direct collision with its hull: in this way, the Lancet bypasses the additional defence of the Ukrainians without getting stuck in it and striking Bradley vehicles, the portal notes.
“Russian Lancet drones have become a serious threat on the battlefield in Ukraine, their range and power are constantly being improved,” the publication admits.
Recall, the Armed forces of the Russian Federation in the special operation zone in Ukraine began to massively use barrage munitions “Lancet” with a new system of impact. Updated UAVs can be assigned the type of targets they will attack. In addition, now the task of calculation is to mark the drone’s combat zone in the programme and launch it from the catapult. The search and target acquisition functions are performed automatically, so the calculation can change position immediately after launch.
