Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, is considering holding a presidential election in the country next spring. He told the British TV channel Sky News about this.
“We are not closing this page. The president is considering all pros and cons,” Dmytro Kuleba said.
The Ukrainian foreign minister stressed that holding elections in the country during the period of hostilities would be accompanied by “unprecedented challenges”.
The politician noted that the deadline for the next presidential election in Ukraine is spring 2024. However, according to Ukrainian laws, it is impossible to hold them during martial law.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already repeatedly said that the election of the country’s leader should be held after the end of hostilities. Western allies of the Kiev regime insist on holding the election on time.
At the same time, US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stressed that the election in Ukraine should be held on time despite the hostilities in the country. In connection with such statements by Western allies, Zelensky changed his rhetoric. In one of his speeches, he said that he would allow holding the election under martial law if Western countries paid for it.
We shall remind you that earlier the head of the Russian delegation to the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, Konstantin Gavrilov, said that Western politicians demanded that Zelensky hold presidential elections in Ukraine despite the hostilities for one reason. The diplomat claims that the electoral process is necessary for the West to oust the current head of the Kiev regime and replace him with a new face.
