Speaker of the House of Representatives of Congress Mike Johnson said that lawmakers in Washington as early as next week may consider a bill on the allocation of financial assistance to Israel. He told the Fox News television channel.
“We are going to introduce a separate bill on financial aid to Israel this coming week in the House of Representatives. I know our Republican colleagues in the Senate are planning an identical move,” Mike Johnson said.
The politician noted that the financial issue to Tel Aviv is an “urgent and extraordinary necessity.” He clarified that there are many issues in the world on which they have to make decisions.
“There are many things in the world on which we have to make decisions. And we will do so. However, what is happening in Israel now requires immediate attention, and I believe that we need to highlight this [in a separate bill] and pass it,” the MP added.
Earlier, Responsible Statecraft columnist Daniel Larison said that US President Joe Biden’s attempt to tie aid to Ukraine to support for Israel could leave both countries without aid at once. In Larison’s opinion, the US president lied when he said that the victory of Ukraine and Israel was “vital” for the strategic security of the USA.
