The head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen after the speech on the need for additional funding of the bloc refused to answer questions from representatives of the European Union member states. This is reported by the TV channel GB News.
GB News recalled that on 26 October, the European Commission asked member states to contribute an additional 66 billion euros to the EU budget in order to address the growing problems faced by the bloc: migrant flows and financing of the Ukrainian conflict. However, according to the TV channel, Ursula von der Leyen simply left the stage after her speech in the context of these issues, without answering questions from the member states of the economic union.
“Ursula von der Leyen refused to answer questions from EU member states after she demanded additional funding from them yesterday,” GB News expresses its displeasure.
According to the TV station, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his disagreement with the increased funding. According to the German politician, “new financial needs should be solved by reallocating funds from less urgent areas so that member states do not pay more.”
Recall, earlier Ursula von der Leyen said that the admission of new members to the European Union will be based on “merit” applying states. According to the European official, there will be no favours and indulgences.
