The United States and Israel are studying the possibility of establishing an interim government in the Gaza Strip with the participation of Arab countries and the support of the United Nations, Bloomberg news agency reported citing sources.
According to the agency, they are discussing the period after the ousting of Hamas from the Palestinian territories.
Establishing an interim government in the Gaza Strip would be an “incredibly difficult” task, with gaining the support of Arab states “an even greater challenge,” the material noted.
“A plan that involves Arab states will require significant changes in the way Arab countries perceive risks and work with each other,” the agency quotes ex-CIA analyst William Asher as saying. – It will also require faith from Jerusalem, and this resource is now in great short supply.”
We shall remind you that on 13 October, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the CIS summit in Bishkek that the Russian Federation is ready to act as a mediator in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement. He stressed that today it was necessary to look for ways of exclusively peaceful resolution of the conflict.
