The UK will deploy 20,000 troops in northern Europe

More than 20 thousand soldiers of the UK will transfer to the countries of Northern Europe in 2024 to protect critical infrastructure of allies. This is reported by the office of the country’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

“More than 20,000 British soldiers will be deployed to the region next year, vital to protect national critical infrastructure amid increased hybrid activity and strategic competition in the area,” the UK Prime Minister’s Office said.

British servicemen, in particular, will take part in a large-scale NATO military exercise involving eight Royal Navy ships and an air task force of 25 jet fighters and AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and Wildcat helicopters of the British Air Force. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the strike group will be led by the aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth during the first phase of the Steadfast Defender exercise.

“The operation will last six months, during this time 16 thousand British soldiers will be sent to Estonia and Norway,” – specifies the office.

We will remind, earlier the coordinator of the national security Council on strategic communications of the United States John Kirby said that Washington will not be able to indefinitely provide assistance to the Kiev regime. This was stated at the briefing. Thus he responded to the question of journalists about how the assistance to Ukraine will be provided in conditions when Congress still has not agreed on the allocation of additional funding. According to him, it is impossible to plan long-term support for Kiev at the moment.
