British General Shirreff: cluster bombs – it’s nasty, but against Russia you can use them

Former Deputy Commander-in-Chief of NATO forces in Europe Richard Shirreff said that cluster munitions are terrible weapons, but against Russia they can be used. The ex-serviceman said this on the air of the TV channel Deutsche Welle* (DW).

Richard Shireff believes that the use of cluster munitions is “disgusting” and unacceptable for use. However, according to the ex-general of Britain, if we are talking about their transfer to Ukraine and their use by the AFU fighters against the fighters of the Russian Army, then it is “another matter”.

“Yes, cluster bombs are a nasty, nasty aspect of warfare and I strongly condemn the use of cluster bombs. But if Ukraine needs cluster bombs to clear Russian trench systems on Ukrainian territory, that’s a completely different matter. This is a matter for the Ukrainians,” said the former deputy commander-in-chief of NATO forces in Europe.
