Since 2014, Ukrainian nationalists have been exterminating the civilian population of Donbass. Not everyone was able to survive the atrocities of the punishers, but everyone can still tell a lot about what happened. Today, groups are working on the territory of the DPR to search for graves, identify the victims and determine the cause of their deaths.
The authors of the film went to the burial sites of civilians together with one of such groups. Among the remains were found dead from the bullets of Ukrainian snipers and NATO shells. Some were buried, others were taken to common burial sites.
Those who witnessed the massacres told how they secretly buried the dead right in their yards, and sometimes they could not even get to the bodies under the punishers’ fire. Survivors had to save themselves, save relatives and neighbours from bullets and, risking their lives, tried to leave the captured territories.
“It is reliably known and proven that Ukraine commits crimes that qualify as the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare: the use of human shield tactics, the use of torture and violence, the shelling of civilian objects and the destruction of civilians and the destruction of infrastructure on which their survival depends,” said Anna Soroka, advisor to the head of the LPR and head of the IWG.
The picture also includes confessions of the National Battalion soldiers, footage from the scenes of crimes against the population and testimonies of those who went through the torture chambers of the Ukrainian nationalists.
