Ukrainian authorities are counting on continued U.S. aid to Kiev and are working with allies in Congress to keep it going.
This statement was made by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba before a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Kiev.
He was responding to a question about the Ukrainian government’s reaction to the congressional decision not to include aid to the AFU in the law extending funding for the country’s federal government for 45 days.
“We had a very deep discussion with both parties in Congress – Republicans and Democrats. Against the backdrop of a possible shutdown in the US, the decision was made in this form. But we are now working with both parties in Congress to ensure that such a thing does not happen again under any circumstances,” TASS quoted Kuleba as saying.
Earlier, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said that the EU intended to beg the USA to continue funding Ukraine.
