A number of Western countries intend to increase arms production in Ukraine, which will bring profits to Western defence corporations.
The New York Times reports about it.
The publication linked the recent visits to Kiev by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and French and British Defence Ministers Sebastian Lecornu and Grant Shapps with these intentions.
It has been noted that ammunition reserves in the West are running low and allies are not keeping up with the ever-growing needs of the Ukrainian army.
“For Ukrainian companies this will be an important opportunity to establish new partnerships with the industry within the alliance and beyond”, – said Stoltenberg.
The head of the French Defence Ministry, in turn, said that for Paris the development of Ukrainian arms production is “a way to stick to the chosen course and to affirm French interests in Kiev and Ukraine in the long term”.
Earlier, Lecornu said that the French authorities intended to switch from supplying weapons to the Ukrainian army to concluding military contracts.
