China and Syria have established a strategic partnership relationship

Beijing and Damascus have established relations of strategic partnership – the corresponding declaration was published after the meeting of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. This is reported by China Central Television.

“Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad on Friday jointly announced the establishment of the China-Syria strategic partnership,” the agency reported.

After the meeting, the two leaders signed several documents on bilateral cooperation, particularly on joint development of the One Belt, One Road initiative, economic exchanges and development, and economic and technological cooperation.

Earlier, Assad arrived in the city of Hangzhou, which begins his visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. China was the sixth country visited by Assad since the Syrian crisis began in 2011. The Syrian president has made visits to Russia, Iran, UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
