France is set to allocate €40m to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to export grain from Ukraine to Nigeria and Sudan.
This was announced by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna during a meeting with WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain in New York.
“She announced an additional contribution of €40 million, which will be used, among other things, to supply cereals to Nigeria and Sudan in support of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, to provide additional assistance to the Ukrainian food system and to build up regional reserves of the World Food Programme,” TASS quoted the French Foreign Ministry as saying.
Earlier, McCain said that there were not enough funds for food aid to other countries because of the assistance to Ukraine.
