The White House has denied the allegations against Biden

US presidential spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said that the White House considers the possible launch of impeachment proceedings against US President Joe Biden in the United States Congress as devoid of grounds.

“Certainly I will not draw inferences as to what is a baseless probe, the conduct of which even the Republicans themselves in the House [of Representatives] cannot defend,” Karine Jean-Pierre said at a regular briefing for journalists.

This is how she commented on the decision made on 11 September by Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to initiate a formal investigation before a possible impeachment vote against Democrat Biden could be announced.

“Republicans in Congress spent a year investigating the [past activities of] the president. That’s what they’ve been doing. And they found no evidence. Not a single one. He [Biden] didn’t do anything inappropriate. Even the Republicans in the House of Representatives said there was no evidence [against Biden],” the spokeswoman said.

Jean-Pierre characterised McCarthy’s decision as a “political stunt”. Biden himself ignored questions shouted at him by reporters at the White House event about possible impeachment.
