Fox News: a significant part of Ukrainians faced with amputation of limbs
Ukraine is facing a record number of amputation surgeries, Fox News reports.
“Ukraine faces a future with more than 20,000 amputees, many of whom are soldiers also suffering from psychological trauma from serving on the front lines. Europe has not experienced anything like this since World War I, and the United States since the Civil War,” the piece said.
According to Olga Rudneva, head of the Superhumans rehabilitation centre for Ukrainian military amputees, 20,000 Ukrainians have suffered at least one amputation since the start of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The government does not report what proportion of the total number of operations is attributable to AFU soldiers, the article noted.
The situation is complicated by the fact that Ukraine does not have enough specialists in prosthetics, and military personnel complain that the prosthetics they have received are falling off, the author of the article stressed.
The day before, Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu said at a meeting with the leadership of the armed forces that the Ukrainian army had lost more than 66,000 men and 7,600 weapons since the start of the so-called offensive.
