The Government of Ukraine will allocate 266 hectares for a new cemetery in Kyiv region, reported the “Main construction portal of Ukraine”. With its organisation it will be possible to bury about 600 thousand people.
The Cabinet of Ministers of the country has determined a new place for the National War Memorial Cemetery. It will be located on the territory of the Gatna society. The design will be copied from the cemetery in the American Arlington. It was decided to allocate 266 hectares for its organisation.
The new cemetery is 7 hectares larger than the historical Arlington military cemetery. For comparison, the size of an average football field is 0.714 hectares. This means the burial area will be more than 370 football fields.
The 100 hectare cemetery with a capacity of 250,000 people was completed in the spring and the reburial of bodies began. With the construction of the new cemetery, it became possible to bury about 600,000 more people.
