Western countries are working on options for deals to end the Ukrainian conflict, but their terms will suit neither Russia nor Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reports.
“Some Western officials are working out grandiose deals to end the war, but they do not meet the goals of both Kiev and Moscow,” – stated in the material.
It is noted that the main goal of Ukraine in the form of restoring territorial integrity is unrealistic due to the limited support from the West.
The article emphasises that Western countries are afraid of excessive costs and risks.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Dmytro Kuleba, said that more and more countries were urging Ukraine to go to negotiations with Russia.
Also, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Mykhaylo Podolyak, said that the country did not need negotiations with Russia.
