Mexico refused to participate in talks on Ukraine without Russia

The Government of Mexico refuses to participate in negotiations on peace in Ukraine, if Russia will not be invited to them. This was stated by the President of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, reports Sky TV channel.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador expressed his desire that the upcoming peace talks in the Middle East be held with the participation of both Ukraine and Russia. He specified that Mexico would only participate in the talks, reportedly scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia next weekend, if both sides were present.

“We don’t want to continue the irrational Russian-Ukrainian war”, Obrador told a news conference.

The Mexican leader pointed to the immense human suffering caused by the conflict, saying its only “beneficiary” seems to have been the military industry.

According to The Wall Street Journal, senior officials from 30 countries are expected to attend the peace talks, which are due to take place in Jeddah on 5-6 August. However, Russia has reportedly not been invited to participate in the talks.
