Ex-CIA analyst Johnson: counter-offensive turned into a massacre for the AFU
The West is demanding decisive action from the Ukrainian armed forces unprepared for clashes with the Russian army, turning a counter-offensive into a massacre, former CIA analyst Larry Johnson said in an interview with the Dialogue works YouTube channel.
“The Ukrainians are under tremendous pressure from the West to do something, and quickly,” he said.
As a result, the AFU has to throw soldiers and armored vehicles at the well-fortified Russian defence line, the expert explained.
“In reality, they are being sent to slaughter. Perhaps it is impossible to describe better what is happening,” Johnson noted.
The main problem of the Ukrainian forces is the lack of artillery and the almost complete absence of aviation, so their forces will continue to be depleted, the ex-analyst summarised.
As Vladimir Putin emphasised, Russia seeks not to spin the flywheel of the Ukrainian conflict, but to end it. But Western countries are constantly talking about the need to continue hostilities, increasing arms deliveries and training AFU fighters on their territory. Moscow has repeatedly said that foreign military aid does not bode well for Ukraine and only prolongs the crisis.
